Dbox2 Not booting problem

Beitrag von Rentakill »

Hi there..

I have just encountered a problem with my Dbox2 when booting.
All was running well untill i shutdown the box via the Menu shutdown option.
Now when i start the Box up , i get the Enigma LCD Display as normal.
Followed by "loading Kernel"
Then " Verifying Checksum"

It is at this stage that the box will just stop.. It will not continue on any furthur..
I have connected to the box using Bootmanager and begin to run the normal proceedure for reflashing an image to the box (Via RS 232).
As the box goes through its normal stage of detecting/Checking and listing the box's status it stops at the following..

debug: DDF: Calibrating delay loop... debug: DDF: 67.79 BogoMIPS

I have been through the forum looking for similar problems and have found others with the same problem, but due to me living in New Zealand and not being able to read German to well, i tend to struggle.

The image i have running on the box has been running for about 2 months without any problems. I havent made any changes previous to the box crashing.
I have the box connected via Ethernet aswell, but allways Use Rs232 for uploading a new image..

Can any one point me in the right direction ???

Thanks

HI Mash..

Thanks for the reply and URL to an English version of the proceedure.
I have have since tried the proceedure and have had no luck at all.

Is there a way to force Via RS 232 or reset the box totally ?..

Heres my result

debug:

debug: Given up BOOTP/TFTP boot
boot net failed
boot: elfcopy failed: 16
dbox2:root>.

I have downloaded and installed that patch as directed for DHCP mediasensing..

Any Ideas ?

Cheers

Flashing is only possible with a well working network.
With a special ppcboot you can try to flash without serial communication, but without network > no chance!

dbox2:root>
First of all try to execute "boot net" at this point!

Also make sure that the following is given:

- the newest network card driver are installed
- 10MBit/Halfduplex is fixed
- a crossover cable was used
- firewall and anti virus has been uninstalled
- post your network configuration for further analysis

Thanks Mash..

I have entered Boot net Cmd at that point, and still get Boot net Failed.
Elf copy failed 16.

It seems i have a problem with my Network not establishing a connection.
My Network consists of the following..

Realteck RTL8029(AS) 10 Mb Network Card..
Setup half duplex Line transmission
Dbox address 102.168.0.100
I have a Cross over cable connected.. Was working fine 2 days ago.

I notice when running Boot manager i cant have BootP/TFTP Server starten Checked.. If i do, then i get the following :
Error 10049 in Fuction Bind Adress not available

Rs 2323 seems to be the only way i can interogate the box.

Known problem!
Please switch off ICS (Internet Connection Sharing or so...)!

What time is it?
