Directstream & WLan

Beitrag von JOCKYW2001 »

This is perhaps a useful tip for those who directstream to a NFS share via wlan. After setting both rsize & wsize to 32768, recording and playback work flawlessly. My laptop connects to a 44mbs wlan router (so called "4x" mode), it runs SFU NFS on XP.

Hmm, dunno if M$ SFU complies to NFS3 or 4. When I change wsize back to 8192 I get the error message "can not write data fast enough ..." and lots of .ts files. Changing rsize back to 8192 results in stuttering movieplayer playback.

Here's another tip if you run XP SP2 with the firewall enabled. For NFS you have to open ports as described here:

If there is more then one wireless client in use, you should calculate your rsize / wsize accordingly the framesize

Frames on 44mbits connections has allways the same size (4096bytes/s).
So the framesize has set to 4096 minus overhead per frame.

The best result you should have at 2048 on my opinion.

'bps' for framesize ?

...maybe ok for UDP only...but don't forget to _disable_ 'TCPIP Support' in the SFU-NFS Server Settings which is enabled by default....afaik.

:D

... Beacon Interval of 100 ms is too slow anymore, it should be set to 25ms for best streaming and direct-write performance.

but...

these tips should be obeyed, if more than one wirelessclient in range of the Wirelessrouter
