flashing a blocked dbox2 with winXP

Hi everybody !
I have a philips dbox2. I tried to update its flash using Image2Box software (updating flash without bootloader). The operation has failed !

Now I want to update this dbox, but the problem is that bootloader is not able to recognize my ethernet card. When I want to sart RARP server it displays the following message es wurde kein einzige netzwerkkarte gefunden fur der packet treiber ....! Does anybody know another tool that could help me to flash the dbox under winXP ?

First of all, I think you don't need the RARP server for flashing the dbox. Try without it.

You have to turn off hyperthreading, ICS and other router software, update realtek network driver. Some also solve the problems by uninstalling and then reinstalling the bootmanager.

I tried to do so without RARP, but the dboot manager is unable to ping the dbox.

I think that the problem is related to a wrong mac address ! In fact, I don't know how to get the IP & MAC addresses of Dbox !
is there a way to get theses addresses ?

There is no "ping" during the process of flashing.

The DBox-IP is assigned by the Bootmanager. Just use a free IP inside your private IP address-range configured on your PC.

I agree with you that ping is software not hardware. But this the message I have from boot-manager in status bar ! Image auslesen & Image flashen buttons are also grayed !
I forgot to say that I'm using ethernet twisted cable and I used windows media-sensing patch.

Is is caused by the fact I'm using winXP ?
If so, is there any alternative to falsh the dbox ?
Could I also flash it without chqnging the ppcboot (ppcboot is OK and I don't want to lose it! ) ?
About the MAC-ADDRESS, is it mandatory to set it, to perform flash ?

Just ignore the ping-message.

Klick on "Stop" to re-activate grayed-out buttons.

Flashing will always delete the entire flash (just leaves the BMon in place) and installs a complete new one. There is no need to keep the old ppcboot.

The MAC-address will be discovered by the Bootmanager itself, no need to enter that.

It seems I'm using a bad Image ! I will download a new one and try it tonight !

Hi everybody,
I'm still not able to perform flash ! I've followed the instructions inside http://www.dietmar-h.net/alt_flash_eng.html, but Nothing happends !

In fact, the dbxoboot is able to detect the dbox but, it is not recieving any acknowledge from dbox ! Also the receiver is not displaying "flashing" in its LCD !

Honesly, I'm not understanding what is wrong ! should I use the RARP server ? is it mandatory to use null-modem cable (I don't have RS232 port in my PC !) ?
