Flash Error Help Required

Beitrag von GAH »

Hi,

My Nokia Dbox2 displaythe following error when I try to flash a new image into the box displayed in the screen at the top of the BootManager screen.

Mein Nokia Dbox2 displaythe nach Störung, wenn ich versuche, ein neues Bild in den Kasten zu blitzen, der auf dem Schirm an der Oberseite des BootManager Schirmes angezeigt wird.

TFTP> Non-BootP TFTP-transfer requested "C\tftpboot\kernel-cdk"
TFTP> Couldn't initiate TFTP-transfer! (possibly file not found)

I get the exact same error no matter what image I try to flash, and I also get the same error on two different computers ( one with Win98 and the other with WinXP). The only common factors are the null modem cable , and the fact that both pcs have 10/100MB network cards.

Can anyone help me ?

Regards,
GAH

Hi Lawww,

I already used the search facility to find my fault, but the search showed up with "No Topics Or Posts Met With Your Search Criteria" However, on looking elsewhere on the Net, I have come to the conclusion that the problem is one of two things. It is either a problem with the NullModem cable (which I am sure is OK) or it is a problem with my 10/100Mb network cards, which I have in both of my computers. Can anyone confirm that DBox2BootManager does not like 10/100Mb network cards, and prefers older type 10Mb network cards only ?

GAH

If the box is connected with the PC directly, the best setting for your NIC would be 10Mbit half-duplex.
means you absolutely have to use this setting for your network card. Autodetection of network speed does not work.

"kernel-cdk"...--->
the communication over the serial port is not ok. Look at the settings for the serial Port (9600, 8, n, 1, n) and check the null modem cable (in case of 9 pin female at both sides the pins
2-3
3-2
5-5
have to be connected)
never change a running system
